As a multidisciplinary artist and designer, my training in fine arts, art direction for film, and fashion design informs both my scholarly and creative work. Born and educated in Cuba, my artistic and academic careers have taken me to North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. After learning the fashion trade from my dressmaking and leather craftsmen family, I pursued a studio artist’s profession but continued freelancing in fashion and costume design. Currently I focus on site-specific fashion projects, which merge public art and fashion design to explore social issues within localized communities around the world.
