Most often positive space is what we focus on the most. This piece reflects the negative space and what shadow and light is needed in order to create that image we are actually seeing. Created from a live model in class, I was able to carefully cut and paste white pieces of paper on to a black illustration board to build an image resembling the lit up portions of the man before my eyes. With pieces like this it is imperative to catch the small creases and disappearances of line everywhere the eye thinks it sees it. As a result you will be left with a graphic shadow mapping of a well grounded human figure.
