I attended exchange at Nottingham Trent University in Nottingham, UK. Moving to England was like a dream come true. My family was from England so having the chance to go back and visit where my ancestors were raised was amazing. The English education system is completely different from what we are used to at Ryerson. The primary focus was on independent learning, meaning you had very little class time and much longer lengths of time between projects. Considering I am so used to being in school for most of my week, this gave me a lot of time to travel and to develop the skills I care about. I spent most of my exchange experience developing my illustration independently, drawing inspiration from the beautiful cities surrounding me and the amazing and unique fashions that the UK has to offer. My advice for future exchange students would be to go into the experience open minded and be ready to learn in new ways. No matter what country you end up going to, or what projects you are given, there is always an opportunity to learn and to grow. I have attached a few images from exchange, in addition, here is a blog post from my exchange blog which shows you around Nottingham city.
